Grange Insurance Audubon Center

If ever there was proof that the natural world thrives in urban environments, it’s the Grange Insurance Audubon Center.   Smack dab in the middle of Columbus is an officially recognized Important Bird Area.  It’s a critical habitat for birds, as identified by their habitual migration patterns.

In other words, the birds like it here.

And we’re glad to host the creatures; in fact The Grange Insurance Audubon Center has developed this area into a welcoming bird oasis and conservation center.

Opened in August 2009, the Center welcomes more than birds. More than 100 schools are within five miles of the site, the conservation center gives local youth access to appreciate nature at it finest, and in harmony with urban development. Some 50,000 human guests are expected to flock to the Center within the first three years of its opening.

The Grange Insurance Audubon Center initiative is led by private-sector corporations such as Grange Insurance and Audubon Ohio, and public-sector organizations such as the City of Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks.
