What should Downtown Columbus look like in 10 years?

Since the 2002 Strategic Business Plan, we’ve made great progress in Downtown despite a tough economy. We should be proud of that, but we also have to keep moving forward boldly. Now is the time to build upon Downtown’s success of the last decade.

The 2010 Downtown Columbus Strategic Plan will put renewed attention on Downtown Columbus, with an opportunity to transform not only the urban core, but the City as a whole. Building on the 2002 Strategic Business Plan for Downtown Columbus, the 2010 Plan will advance the long-term framework for Downtown and identify catalysts for continued growth. Strong public/private cooperation on project implementation and policy adoption will allow the 2010 Downtown Columbus Strategic Plan to have greater longevity and effectiveness. A successful downtown will, in turn, create a more successful region that is both nationally and globally competitive.

Goals of 2010 Downtown Columbus Strategic Plan

Working with the City of Columbus and the CDDC, the planning team from MSI Design will be conducting three public meetings over the course of the next several months, leading up to the City Council Adoption Process. The Plan will identify catalytic projects, recommend new policies and provide a robust implementation strategy. The plan will also establish a framework for regular updates to ensure that it remains current and responsive to the changing needs of Downtown Columbus.
